Dallas Cowboys’ Marshawn Kneeland Dies By Apparent Suicide

Dallas Cowboys defensive end Marshawn Kneeland died on November 6, 2025, at the age of 24, from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police in Frisco, Texas, said that Kneeland was found dead after a police chase that began when he evaded a traffic stop. Authorities had been informed by his girlfriend that he had “expressed suicidal ideations” and was armed.
Kneeland was a second-round draft pick in 2024 out of Western Michigan University and was in his second NFL season. Just two days before his death, he had scored his first and only NFL touchdown during a Monday Night Football game against the Arizona Cardinals.

His death came after a period of personal grief; his mother had died unexpectedly in February 2024, and he carried her ashes in an urn necklace to honor her memory. The football community was deeply saddened by his loss, and several people, including teammates and his agent, issued statements emphasizing his kind spirit and passion for the game.
